About the Author
Peter G. Northouse, PhD, is Professor Emeritus of Communication in the School of Communication at Western Michigan University. In addition to publications in professional journals, he is the author of Leadership: Theory and Practice (now in its seventh edition) and Introduction to Leadership: Concepts and Practice (now in its third edition) and coauthor of Health Communication: Strategies for Health Professionals (now in its third edition). His scholarly and curricular interests include models of leadership, leadership assessment, ethical leadership, and leadership and group dynamics. For more than 30 years, he has taught courses in leadership, interpersonal communication, and organizational communication to both undergraduate and graduate students. Currently, he is a consultant and lecturer on trends in leadership research, leadership development, and leadership education. He holds a doctorate in speech communication from the University of Denver, and master’s and bachelor’s degrees in communication education from Michigan State University.

The diagrams are excellent, the book itself well-organized

Purchased this for a class and found it very understandable and well-written. The diagrams are excellent, the book itself well-organized, and the case studies great for testing understanding of concepts. The absolute best part, however, is that every chapter provides a great section on strengths and weaknesses of the story. My only complaint is that the chapters never start with a very brief summary of what the theory it's covering is, so occasionally I'd finish a chapter and not really be sure I was getting the overall idea right (also made studying difficult when I'd be sitting there going "Now which theory is that again?")

Only If Required

I had to buy this book for a set of leadership classes for my Graduate program. It was okay. It offers a lot of information that is helpful when learning about the many different leadership styles but it did not keep my attention for long. I found many areas boring, redundant and useless. I would have liked to have seen the leadership styles applied to today's contemporary and global world but it lacks good examples. I lost interest quickly and was thankful to get to the end of a chapter.
It does offer great information about leadership styles, it was just hard to read and stay focused.

The time promised for me to receive this book arrived much earlier than the time given. The quality of the product is beyond excellent condition. It was truly worth the price because in the book store they wanted $68 for this book and I think I only paid $29 which included the book plus shipping. I highly recommend this seller.
